Golden Wagon Gets Two Thumbs Up

Fire Island put Park City, Utah, and Sundance to shame this weekend with the third annual Golden Wagon Film Festival, an event that filled Ocean Beach with filmmakers and film lovers for three days of celluloid-fueled rapture.
Twenty films, from feature-length documentaries to short avant-garde artworks were shown. Over 1,200 people attended; some camped out to watch movies on the three and a half story high blow-up screen brought in to the ball field just for the occasion. Others munched on buttery popcorn and enjoyed matinee screenings at the community house.
“Ghostbusters” and “Law and Order” star Jordan Charney returned to emcee the showings, and “X-Files” star David Duchovny—who grew up in Ocean Beach—was the honoree. His directorial debut “The House of D” was shown Sunday, and a taped address from him was shown.
