GOINGS ON—at Our Lady the Magnificat’s raffle, OBP names were called for 10 of the 24 prizes, including the three grand prizes – The Candela’s won $500, the Lobo’s and Gerry Saperstein $250 each, Ginny Horton’s diligence pursuing and persuading us to buy tickets paid off... At the Year-Rounder’s Party lobster and steak were served in style. President Kevin Gillespie presented a plaque to George Hafele for his contributions and pulled winning tickets for over 25 prizes and the 50/50. It was Walter Boss’ lucky day - he won the 50/50 and a fabulous model boat…The Fire Island Synagogue honored Cantor Harry Trattner at a party at Suzy and Michael Appelbaums. Cantor Trattner was the first full time cantor for the congregation and Board Chairman Michael Koplik lauded him on his wonderful sense of humor and then elegantly thanked and acknowledged him for being the thread that bound the Synagogue together for these past 25 years.The Gourmet Fair always a winner, took the brass ring this year adding new venues - children’s’ activities (with a clown and chocolate dipped strawberries) and a raffle (Joan and Steve Rubinstein won the helicopter ride around Manhattan, Rita Butler the dinner at Joseph’s). There was an abundance of food and goodies thanks to donations from OBP chefs, Citarella, Love & Quiches... Joyce Hunt and Angelo Paladino were the perfect non-silent auctioneers for the silent action. Steve Jaffe the perfect clown. Ed Schechter, Jeff Lewis and Paul Silverstein master grill chefs, Lewis Solish hawked the 50/50. (Charlie Brandt won). Co-chairs Lillian Laikind and Alan Schankweiler thank all who came, donated, and all the many worker-bee volunteers . It was a great day and another “Affair To Remember”…

THE SOCIAL SCENE—The Errico’s always celebrate Bob’s birthday and this year proved no exception. Bob’s multi-layer antipasto was divine and his wish list for his 70th (next year) a hoot. Tell us Bob, what you would do on a date with Nicole Kidman in an Alfa Romero?… Gwen Veerbeck celebrated her birthday at a dinner party with friends… Neil Andon had two parties (why not ? - it was his biggie). A dinner party with friends on Saturday and Felice’s Sunday surprise party at the Hideaway… Carmen Vazquez and Marty Juvelier served six Australian and New Zealand wines at a wine tasting in honor of Carmen’s New Zealand sister-in law, Denise and Abe Inoa... Robbie Harris and Tom Byrnes were married at the Schooner and celebrate anniversaries there. This year for their 20th, the party was bigger than every…Barbara and John Williams are celebrating 49 years of marriage on Saturday, 8/27, at a dinner at the OBP hotel given by son, Jim Williams and Carolann Mitchel.. .And we will all be wearing a touch of silver to Bill Koenig’s 85th birthday bash…
